How does porting a number work?

Number porting is the process of transferring your existing business phone numbers from your current carrier to a new provider, so you can keep your established contact information.

Crucial Rule: Do not cancel your existing phone service until the port is officially confirmed as complete. If you cancel your service too early, the numbers may be released and lost permanently.

The process generally involves signing a Letter of Agency (LOA) and providing a recent phone bill to prove ownership. While the industry standard timeline can vary from a few days to a few weeks depending on the losing carrier, Universal Connectivity manages this entire administrative workflow for you. We coordinate directly with your old provider to ensure a seamless transition with zero downtime for your business.
